Venice Be Real-Game

The second exhibition at Zagreus in Berlin (August 1 to September 30) focused on the Venice game “Venice BeReal.” It was conceived based on the questions and results of the project Ö: Migrating Spaces and Tourism II: Imagination, Pictorial Space and Contextures of Venice.

As part of the game development, patterns of behavior, motives for visiting, length of stay, and the production of images were examined using game formats. This allowed role characters to be derived from guided interviews. The rules of the game interpret the observed patterns of behavior and conflicts. Exhibition visitors become players and experience—in the sense of multiple spatialities—the city of Venice in all its complexity from different perspectives.
