  • René Tuma is a sociologist, currently working as a Postdoc Researcher at the SFB1265 within project B02. He is starting as principal investigator for a project funded by the Open Research Area for the Social Sciences Research Group on "Visions of Policing: How Visual Technologies Shape Police Oversight and Training," which starts in 2023. He is associated with the Chair of General Sociology at TU Berlin and the University of Amsterdam Violent Interactions Group. His research interests include Interpretive & Qualitative Methods, Interpretive Sociology, Reflexive Methodology, Sociological Theory, Sociology of Knowledge, Sociology of Interactions, Sociology of Technology and Infrastructure, Sociology of the Visual, and Sociology of Violence. René Tuma has obtained a Dr. phil. in Sociology from the Technische Universität Berlin in 2014 and an MSc in Medicine, Science & Society from King's College London in 2008. He is a founding member of the working group Videoanalyse.net and has published widely on videographic methods and methodology.
